In the name of God, amen, I, William Grimes of the county of Elbert and state of Georgia do make nad ordain this mylast will and testament in the manner and from to wit:

I derect all my just to be paid out of my estate. I land unto my daughter Carter, that during her life the following negroes to wit: ONe gegro woman named Betty, one negro wamn named, Jane, one negroe boy named Harry, a negro girl named Jenny and feather bed and furniture with their futree increase of all the female negroes to be equally divided between all the children of my said daughter, that she may have at her death born of her body, lawfully begotten. Likewise, when my son William comes of age, my desire is that my daughter Betsey ay have her equal part iwth the rest of my children by reducing the value of Big Lan? and her increase at tthe dungeion? from her part, the remaining part to be lent in the same manner of the first to wit:


I give my son, William a tract of land on Bushy Creek containing four hundred acres, conveyed from James McConnell to me. Likewise I give my son Thomas M. Grimes, the tract of land whereon I now live, all the rest of my property remaining when my son , William Grimes, arrives at the age of twenty-one, be equally divided my wife and my children.

At the division my wife, I wish to enjoy the privilege of both my tracts of land. I constitute and appoing my friend Thomas B. SCott and Willam Harvie and my wife Mildred Grimes, my executors and executrix, to this ly last will and testament, investing them with thte disposal of such of my property as may think best to settle and discharge my debts.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 28th of December 1794.

In the name of God Amen, I Thomas M. Grimes of the County of Madison and State of Georgia being of perfect mind and memory blefsed be God yet knowing that it is appointed to able men once to die do make this my last will and testament in the first place I recommend my soul to God and my body to the earth that gave it to be buried in a decent mand christian like manner not doubting but at the day of general resurrection I shall receive the same adn as tucsing? such worldy estate as it hath pleased almight God to endow me with I do dispose of in the following manner (To wit) that so much of my estate be sold as will pay my just debts and the remainder to be kept together during the natural life of my dearly beloeved wive Anny Grimes then to be equally divided amongst my four children (to wit) Elizabeth Grimes, John P.Grimes, Marthew Grimes and Susan R. Grimes, except my executrix and executors should think it best to make some dvade? before them having speckial regard to the value of the property and be it remembered that it is my desire and wish that the negros be divided as nearly equal as pofsble and made equal with money or other property and should my wife marry then she shall have an equal divide with my children, should she marry before the children all marry or come of age my executors shall take charge of their property. It is my wish that my son John P. Grimes do have my rifle gun and accutrment. I do hereby appoint my wife Anny Grimes my Executrix and Jefse Power and James Power executors all of the state and county aforesaid to this my last will and testament herby ratify and confirming this to be my last will and testament in witnefs whereof I have herunto set my hadn adn affixed my seal this twenty second of October one thousand eight hundred snad twenty two.

I Frank Grimes being of sound disposing mind and mcurny? And knowing the uncirdirouly of human life do make and publish this as my last will and testament, revoking all other made by my hand for

First I will and esire tha my body be buried in a Christian mannerbr>
Second I desire that all my just debts be paid our of othe precedds o my estated as early as it can be done b my executors



Third it is my will that any executors hereinafter named take charge of my estate both real and personal and keep the june? Together manage and control the ??.blah blah.for the support and comfort of my wife Polly Grimes and the support maintenance and education of such minor children as I may leave, I leave as my death; such child ? to be educated as my other? Children have been. For and during the natural life of my said wife Polly Grimes.
Fourth It is my will and desire that my executors hold possession of such ? all my estate both real and personal benefit of my said wife and miner children for and during the life time of my said wife who shall be u? to all the proceeds of my estates so long as she may live except such as many be spent on the minor children left by ? and at the death of my said wife my estate to be divided as follows to wit:
The ? shall be sold by me executors and the proceeds divided into eleven equal parts and to the children of Rebecca Wilkins I give on half of one eleventh and to John Hall and Mahaly Rucker I give one half of one eleventh to be equally divided between them.

To my children Anna Wilkins, William Grimes, Robinhu? Fisher B Frank Grimes, Clifford Grimes, Vesdu Grimes, Wilkins Ernest Grimes, Odonia Grimes, Funcrun Obu or Obie Grimes and Dolly Grimes, I give and bequeath to each one elventh of my entire estate after the uses hereinbefore provided for.

Fifth I herby appoint as the executors of this my last will, my son, William Grimes and my son in law George Wilkins ¦..

Sixth It is my purpose and object in this will to leave my esate and my invalid wife to the keeping of my executors. To have my wife and any minor children that I may leave , taken care of out of my estate so long as my wife may live and at ther death to have my estate divided as herebefore directed. If it should so happen that my wife should die before I do then it is my will ? my executors upon my death proceed at ? divide my esate as herein derected. set my hand and affix my seal this the 20th day of April 1901.

In the name of God Amen, I ROBERT GRIMES of Jones County, State of North
Carolina, Planter, being of perfect and sound mind Thanks be to God and
calling to mind the uncertain estate of the Transetory life and that all flesh must yield unto death when it shall please God to call--- Do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in
manner and form following

First being Penitant and Sorry for all my sins most humbly desiring forgiveness for the same. I recommend my soul unto Almighty God my Saviour and Redeemer in whom and by whom merits I trust and believe assuredly to be saved and my body I commit to the earth to be ____ buried at the discretion
of my Excutors hereafter named for taking my temporal Estate, and such goods chattels,__, as it has please God to bestow me, I do order and give in manner following----------

Item-I order at decent time after my Interment my Negro fellow Calo be sold at public Venders at six months credit & the money driving from the sale be
applied to purchase a breeding wench for the benefit of my Children__

Item-I lend unto my beloved wife REBECCA GRIMES all my Estate both Real and Personal, of whatever nature or kind whatsoever, until my Son SAMUEL GRIMES arrives to the age of Twenty One Years, at which time I mean an equal division of all the land both in quantity and quality be made between my Sons SAMUEL and ALLEN GRIMES and likewise at the same time a division of all my Personal Estate equally between my wife two sons and three daughters--------

Item-After my son SAMUEL and Daughter NANCY have received their parts (which I suppose will be nearby at one time) I mean that my other two Daughters SARAH & CHARLOTTE"S Share's as well as my son Allen's should remain in the hands of my wife until those three come of age but should my wife marry in the time I order that her share (which is the same as the girls) be devided up to my Excutors for the Benefit of my children equally, and that her three shares she has held in trust for my two
youngest Daughters & Son be likewise delivered to my Excutors for __ use..and
lastly I do hereby nominate, Constitute and order my well beloved Friends, DANIEL BENDER and JOHN AHAIR ? to be my whole and sole Excutors of this my
Last Will and Testament and do hereby utterly disallow disannul & make rid all and every Will & Wills, legacies and bequests heretofore done or made Willed and bequeathed, Aullfying (Sic)
and Confirming this & no other to be my Last Will and Testament.

In the Name of God, Amen. This twelfth day of September in the year of our Lord, One Thousand, Seven Hundred & Ninety-five.

I, Thomas Grimes of the County of Edgecombe & State of North Carolina, being low in health but sound & perfect in mind and memory, Blessed be God,
for it is known and appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this and no other to be my last will and Testatment in manner and form following:

Item 1: I lend unto Frances Hatton, my daughter, one Negro girl named Agness for and during the term of her natural life & the life of her husband, Francis Hatton and after the death of said Francis Hatton & Frances Grimes Hatton, his wife, my will and desire is that said Negro & increase be equally divided among the children of said Frances Hatton
then living & if she die without lawful heir begotten of her body my will & desire is that said Negro & increase be equally divided among the rest of my children.

Item 2: I give and bequeath unto Llewellyn Grimes, my son, one Negro man named Isaac and twenty geese to him and to his heirs forever.

Item 3: I give and bequeath unto William Grimes, my son, the land whereon he now lives & one cow & calf to him & his heirs forever.


Item 4: I give and bequeath unto John C. Grimes, my son, the land whereon he now lives & five pounds currency to him & to his heirs forever.


Item 5: I give & bequeath unto Thomas Grimes, my son, one Negro Boy named Mike to him & to his heirs forever.


Item 6: I lend unto Chloe Grimes, my daughter, one Negro Man named Billy during her natural life & after her death to be equally divided among her children but if she die without lawful heirs begotten of her body, my will & desire is that said Negro and increase be divided among the rest of my children.

Item 7: I give & bequeath unto James Grimes, my son, one Negro Boy named Jordan & my Sorrell mare and colt to him & to his heirs forever.


Item 8: I lend unto Sarah Grimes, my daughter, one Negro girl named Joy during her natural life & if she marry the lifetime of her husband; I also give unto said Sarah Grimes one feather bed & if she die without lawful heir begotten of her body my
will & desire is that said Negro & increase be equally divided among the rest of my children. But if she has heirs, to be equally divided among them.


Item 9: I lend unto Elizabeth Grimes, my daughter, one Negro girl name Eley during her natural life & if she marry during the lifetime of her husband; I also give unto said Elizabeth Grimes one feather bed & furniture & after the death of said Elizabeth Grimes my will and desire is that said Negro & increase be equally divided among the rest of my Children.

Item 10: I lend unto Mary Grimes, my daughter, one Negro boy named Quash during her natural life & if she marry during the lifetime of her husband; I also give unto said Mary Grimes one feather bed and furniture & after the death of said Mary Grimes my will & desire is that said Negro be equally among her children. If she die without lawful heir
begotten of her body, my will & desire is that said Negro be equally divided among the rest of my children.

Item 11: I give and bequeath unto George Grimes, my son, one Negro woman named Lettice & one Negro boy named Randal to him & to his heirs forever.

My will & desire is that all my just debts be paid & after that my will & desire is that all my property of every kind that is not willed away to be equally divided among all my children.

And I do further ordain and constitute & appoint my son, Llewellyn Grimes, and my son, Thomas Grimes and John Lewelling to be joint Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking &
disannulling all other & former will made by me if any such should be found ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament in witness whereof the above Thomas Grimes hath
hereunto set his hand & seal the day and date above written.
